The iPAQ 111 lets you surf the internet and read some emails via a wireless network connection, and it has Bluetooth connectivity, and it uses Windows Mobile 6.

Review:

While not terrible, this PDA is a refresh on an existing design. It’s a reliable machine, with solid wireless connectivity at WiFi hot spots. It’s got a good balance between battery life and heft, it’s been refreshed with USB 2.0 connectors (finally), and has a bright, if somewhat too small, screen. (They increased the resolution and shrank the overall dimensions, which is a recipe for eyestrain. Nice additions were adding microphone and headphone jacks. Bluetooth capabilities allow this to tether to a cell phone for cell carrier broadband, and the Bluetooth range and setup is excellent. (The Bluetooth is good enough that we recommend using that to synchronize with rather than the cable.)

Downsides.

In this day and age where cell phones can get a gigabyte of RAM, 64 MB is downright primitive. Having only a quarter gig of storage space is awful, but remediable with an SD or SDHC card. We really really hated the volume controls for the headphones. That has to be fixed ASAP, because it’s way too granular. It’s either inaudible or rattles your fillings loose.

The keyboard on this PDA is too small and you have to use the stylus to type. It is very hard to type keys at a time and it takes time to get use to. This PDA should have had a Bluetooth keyboard for easier use.

HP iPAQ 111 is not a bad handheld PDA. It is just not very good. It is an average handheld device. The features are all there but the ease of use is not. It takes time to get use to operating the PDA. The features are excellent but people do not want to play Rubik’s cube with a PDA, they want to organize their busy work schedule. Overall, this product is not bad. A personal organizer is a great thing to have, so getting any model will be a great idea. An average PDA is better than a piece of junk and this PDA is not junk. When you go to a junkyard, you will see a million beat up cars and you will notice a lemon that needs minimum repair for it to run again. That lemon is what HP iPAQ 111 is.
